The holidays are fast approaching and you probably have a long list of people to buy for.
Tackling this list can get real expensive – real fast.
You either have to cut back your list or your budget to make everyone happy.
But what if I told you that there is a simple way to buy Christmas presents without having to spend more than you have?
I cover a large chunk of holiday shopping with gift cards I earn and collect throughout the year.
By completing small tasks and by shopping online, I earn points that can be redeemed for gift cards or cash.
One of my favorite ways to earn gift cards and cash is through Swagbucks.
Of all the companies I refer my readers to, Swagbucks is probably the only one I use on a daily basis.
Sometimes multiple times.
Making earning gift cards easy to do and a great money-saver when buying presents.

So what is Swagbucks?
Swagbucks is a company that rewards you for becoming a member and participating in small activities. They reward you with Swagbucks (similar to points) that can be redeemed for gift cards to your favorite retailers.
My favorite is Amazon (be sure to sign up for a 30-day free Prime membership), though you will find retailers such as Walmart, Target, Bath and Body Works and more.
You will also find charities you can donate to using your Swagbucks such as the Humane Society and the Wounded Warrior Project.
What’s more? If you can’t find a retailer you like on the list, you can redeem your Swagbucks into a virtual debit card to shop anywhere you want online.
You’re probably thinking, “What if I don’t want a gift card? I want cash”.
Well, good news for you.
When you redeem Swagbucks you have the option of turning them into cash through a Paypal gift card, which is then applied to your account. If you have a Paypal debit card (it’s free), you can withdraw your money from any ATM.
I usually redeem my Swagbucks for gift cards, because I shop quite a bit online.
How to Easily Earn Swagbucks
Earning Swagbucks is actually quite easy.
You can put in time each day to earn Swagbucks by completing a variety of activities each day. Some will garner you more than others, so I recommend spending time on the things you actually enjoy doing that will also give you the most bang for your buck.
Here are just a few ways to earn gift cards with Swagbucks in time for the gift-giving season.
Install the Search Bar
Most of us use Google to search the internet, which is fine, but when was the last time they paid you for it?
Install Swagbucks’ search bar and earn Swagbucks to do your regular daily searches with Bing.
No need to keep Swagbucks all to yourself. Refer friends to join you on Swagbucks and not only will you each earn $3, you’ll earn 10% of whatever they earn in a lifetime. I still earn from friends I referred four years ago. Easy.
I hate commercials so I always skip those when watching my favorite shows. With Swagbucks, I can earn money from watching what I want – when I want.
I get to see what’s new and upcoming to the theatres while earning Swagbucks to redeem for later. I know some people who let the videos run in the background, but I always find them interesting enough to look at.
Just like most survey companies, the amount you earn will depend on the type of survey you complete. You can earn a decent amount of Swagbucks from answering survey questions as they come available. To qualify for more surveys, make sure you fill out the qualification questions.
Similar to Ebates, you can earn Swagbucks from shopping online with participating retailers. You can search for the stores within their Shop and Earn section, or just wait for the pop-up when you visit your favorite sites.
Enter the Swag Code
Each day (and sometimes multiple times a day), Swagbucks will have a code that you can enter in your toolbar to earn credit. You will often find these codes in your account and on their social media platforms.
Entering Swag Codes is practically the easiest way to earn Swagbucks. But hurry. The codes are time sensitive.
Is Swagbucks worth it?
In my opinion, yes – if you’re consistent.
Now, you won’t make enough to cover bills or take the place of your job. However, depending on the effort you put forth, it’s possible to bring in enough to cover groceries, date nights, or your Starbucks’ habit that has been busting your budget.
Since I’ve become a member, I have been able to redeem my Amazon gift cards to help pay for my family’s household products, some groceries, and my book obsession. I’ve also used them to buy cool toys for my cousins for Christmas.
In fact, I once earned over $250 in Swagbucks one month, mostly from surveys, referrals, and videos. I know people who earn way more than that – so it’s totally up to you how much you earn each month.
I recommend Swagbucks because of how easy and fun it is to participate, but I’ve never had a bad experience when it came time to redeem my earnings. Depending on the time, I’ve gotten my gift card approved in less than a day (though time can vary up to a week).
Participating in Swagbucks doesn’t take much effort and it has helped me to save money on presents.
You don’t have to put a lot of time into Swagbucks to make it worthwhile, but if you complete the tasks I mentioned in this post, you’ll be able to maximize your earnings.
