Truth is, as we get older we become less active. Well, that’s the case for a lot of us. It’s much worse for those of us who are forced to sit behind a desk all day. Living a sedentary lifestyle is not good for our heart nor our hips.

There are apps out there that will pay you to exercise.
Studies show that money is a great motivator when it comes to getting fit and losing weight. So, when I found out there was a way to get paid to exercise, I grabbed my phone and Fitbit and started counting my coins (I mean working out).

Here are a few great apps that pay you to exercise.
If you really need a strong financial incentive to workout, consider making a bet with Healthy Wage.
With Healthy Wage, you set a wage to lose a specific amount of weight (which you can’t do without exercising or eating healthy).
If you meet your goal you get to split the pot with other successful wagers. If you don’t, you miss out. A great incentive to getting off of your butt. There’s also a chance to win $10,000.

Similar to Healthy Wage, Diet Bet allows you to put up a wager to lose weight.
You can join challenges where you’ll put money into the pot. Anyone who has lost 4% of their body weight will split the pot at the end of the challenge. If you are competitive, Diet Bet is a great way to race against others all the while getting fit and losing weight.
You’re probably wondering, “how will they really know if I lost the weight”? They each have safeguards in place, such as taking a picture of yourself and the scale and uploading them. This helps to keep everyone honest and makes the challenge fair to everyone.

The best part of Step Bet, in my opinion, is that they will take into account historical data from your tracker and set a goal for you. So, if you have a Fitbit, they’ll look at the steps you’ve made beforehand. This is great because it helps you to set a goal that is realistic and reachable.

Walgreens Balance Rewards
If you’re already a Walgreens Balance Rewards member, you know how great it is to earn points for your purchases.
Walgreens wants you to get moving and will award you reward points for fitness activities.
You can sync your account with apps such as MyFitnessPal or devices such as the Fitbit (select models). In addition to earning 250 balance reward points for adding a device, you’ll have the opportunity to earn automatically. So, lace up those tennis shoes.

Now, will these apps help everyone to workout more or make money? Not really.
The potential is there to make money while getting healthy with these great apps. However, if you’re not motivated by money – this may not be for you. Hopefully, you’ll find that motivator to adopting a healthier lifestyle.
